In the weekly English Junior Cycle grinds, we will comprehensively cover all aspects of the syllabus to ensure that students are well equipped to manage the new two-hour examination paper. This focused course covers the essential elements of the English curriculum from creating writing, functional tasks, poetry, drama and fiction.
Our unique style of teaching at The Academy breaks the English subject down by providing systematic tools for students to approach the paper. Using the exam-focused notes student will receive at each weekly grind, this course will help students understand how to effectively prepare for the exam, providing a formulaic approach to dissecting questions in order to maximise their result. As time management can be a big challenge in the state examinations, particularly with the new Junior Cycle English paper, the course will also cover how to identify keywords, outlined in the marking scheme, so that students are confident in addressing all aspects of this paper.
As continuous based assessment is now also a feature of how students are evaluated for English, this course will also practical tips on how students should approach these assignments throughout the year to achieve their best result.
