Exciting Developments For The Dublin Academy of Education

We are delighted to announce that as of today, The Dublin Academy of Education has joined the newly formed Axis Education Group, and for the start of the 2025/2026 academic year will move to a brand new state-of-the-art campus in Blackrock, Co. Dublin.

PART OF THE NEWLY FORMED AXIS EDUCATION GROUP

The Axis Education Group is comprised of The Dublin Academy of Education, Independent College, International House Dublin and Public Affairs Ireland. Each of the new group’s educational institutions has had a transformative impact in their respective area of the education sector – none more so than The Dublin Academy of Education.

As part of the Axis Education Group, a 100% Irish owned group held jointly by Founder and CEO of The Academy, Chris Lauder and educational investor, Donagh Barry, we will strengthen our shared mission of empowering learners at every stage of their learning and development journey to unlock their full potential through effective education. This is education that goes beyond examination success and qualifications, and endeavours to equip students with the confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills they require to succeed in today’s world.

Together, we will continue to focus on providing exceptional teaching, cultivating collaborative, flexible and supportive learning environments, and instilling life-long skills in our learners. Our increased scale and strength will allow us to provide additional investment across our educational institutions to offer even greater opportunities for our learners and support them to excel academically, grow personally and thrive professionally.

As part of the new group, The Dublin Academy of Education will retain its existing brand and its day-to-day operations will continue as normal with a focus, as always, on supporting students not only to achieve grades they didn’t think possible and overcome the challenges of the Leaving Certificate, but also to equip them with the confidence, mind-set and skills to be successful at third-level and beyond.

MOVE TO BRAND NEW CAMPUS IN BLACKROCK

Starting life in 2010 as a weekly Maths grind for Leaving Certificate students from a community hall in Cabinteely, The Dublin Academy of Education has continually expanded the breadth and scale of our offering. Since our inception, we have provided weekly grinds and revision courses to over 100,000 students, and launched our full-time day school for fifth year, sixth year and repeat Leaving Certificate students in 2018 from our campus in Stillorgan, Co. Dublin. Now, due to high demand, additional space is required for The Academy to further develop and expand our range of services across our full-time day-school and other courses.

This summer, we will move to a new 28,000 sq. ft. campus in Blackrock, Co. Dublin. This new campus is currently being developed through a €7m retro-fitting of Frascati House, the old Zurich Insurance building, into a modern, state-of-the-art, A-rated school campus, ready for the new 2025/2026 academic year.

Located on Temple Road in the heart of Blackrock Village, and less than 500m away from Blackrock DART station, the new campus will be easily accessible from all part of Dublin city and county, and will be home to the Academy’s full-time day-school and all other courses.

The campus will allow The Academy to offer a Transition Year programme at our full-time school to prepare students for the increased demands of Senior Cycle. It will also facilitate us in increasing our student numbers from 360 to 500 without impacting our average class size of 27 in sixth year and 21 in fifth year, maintaining our commitment to offering interactive, personalised education in an environment that fosters supportive and positive working relationships between teachers and students.

You can see a sneak peak of the campus development in the video below and further details will be made available in the coming weeks and months as we get ready to transition from our current campus in Stillorgan to our new home in Blackrock.

WHAT’S STAYING THE SAME

Teaching, management and administrative staff of The Dublin Academy of Education will remain unchanged.

As part of the Axis Education Group, The Dublin Academy of Education will retain its existing brand and its day-to-day operations will continue as normal, with a focus, as always, on supporting students to not only achieve grades they didn’t think possible and overcome the challenges of the Leaving Certificate, but also equipping them with the confidence, mind-set and skills to be successful at third-level and beyond.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR STUDENTS
