Weekly Grinds FAQ

What happens if schools are forced to close again, will my weekly grinds take place?

Should schools be closed at any point during the year, students will be provided a live 75-minute online grind in place of their in-person grinds.

What health and safety procedures have been put in place?

  • Hand sanitising stations will be available throughout the buildings and students will be required to use them before and after classes.
  • Following the government announcement on Friday 7th August, it will be compulsory for all staff and students to wear a protective face covering. Students will be required to provide their own.
  • The start and end times of grinds have been staggered to reduce the numbers of students entering and exiting the building at any one time.
  • We have upgraded and improved the ventilation system in our classrooms.
  • A strict roll call will be taken for all grinds classes for contact tracing purposes.
  • A two-way “keep to the left” system will be in operation throughout the school.
  • There are some areas of the school where a one-way system will be in operation as required, i.e. at certain pressure points along the corridors – these will be clearly marked.
  • Students are asked to arrive for classes no earlier than 15 mins to help reduce numbers onsite.
  • A full deep clean of the school has also been carried out during the summer and a rigorous cleaning process will be implemented daily.
  • Class capacities have been reduced to ensure social distancing requirements can be met.

Can I change my choice of subject for my weekly grind during the year?

Yes, however please note that an administration charge of €20 will apply if a student decides to change their choice of subject during the year.
