Séadhan de Poire

Séadhan de Poire is specialised in providing students with a clear, fundamental understanding of the syllabus and marking scheme. His teaching style is focused on covering the curriculum in a concise way so that students have the tools to successfully manage the likely exam questions.

Séadhan is a popular teacher due to his ability to stimulate students’ interest in the subject.


Rachel Mahon

Rachel Mahon is an Irish and Spanish teacher. She obtained a degree her subjects in UCD before completing her Masters of Education through the medium of Irish in NUIG, where she graduated with a first class honours. She has extensive experience teaching Leaving Cert students and has examined orals with the State Examination Commission.

 

She is very passionate about both languages, having spent many summers working in Irish colleges in the Gaeltacht, most recently as principal. She spent time in Seville during her undergrad and has done various Spanish courses with the Instituto de Cervantes in Dublin and Madrid. Her approach aims to instil a love of languages in students and a deep understanding of how the language works. Her teaching is highly exam focused in order to ensure students obtain the highest mark possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need Irish to qualify as a primary school teacher?

There are Irish language requirements for primary school teaching – teachers must be able to teach the Irish language and must have achieved a H4 grade in Leaving Cert Irish. This course is designed for people who have since left school but wish to study for, and sit, the Leaving Cert exam to achieve this minimum grade requirement.

What is the schedule of these Irish classes?

Final Classes / Supervised Study:

How long are the Weekly Grinds?

Irish for Primary School Teaching grinds are 75 minutes in duration.

How do I access my live-streamed Weekly Grinds?

You will access your live-streamed Weekly Grinds via our online learning management system, DASH (Dublin Academy School Hub). We will send you logins for this platform in advance of your live-streamed grind.

If I opt for live-streamed grinds, how do I get my study notes?

Your study notes will be posted to your house free of charge in advance of your live-streamed grinds commencing. Please note, study notes will take up to 3 working days to arrive from the time of booking.

With the oral component now worth 40% of the marks available, all students are given a customized booklet, with answers tailored to their own situation. Where can you attend these grinds?

You can experience our live and interactive weekly grinds by attending classes either:

 

On-site: We offer on-site classroom-based weekly grinds in our Stillorgan location.

 

Online via Live-stream: We also offer you the option of attending our weekly grinds via live-stream meaning you can participate from anywhere in Ireland.

 

Regardless of which option you select, you will be able to interact with our teachers and ask questions. These weekly grinds are 75 minutes in duration and all classes are accompanied by our renowned Dublin Academy study notes. If you opt for Live-streamed weekly grinds, our study notes will be posted to your home free of charge.

 

The foundation of our Leaving Cert weekly grinds is ‘exam focus’. Our teachers strip away the unnecessary sections of each subject and focus solely on the core, examinable material, the aim of which is increasing your exam performance.
