Junior Cycle On-Demand Grinds now enrolling for September 2021
Our On-Demand Grinds offer students the opportunity to be taught by our incredible teachers when it suits them. Students who sign up receive full access to over 40 hours of pre-recorded grinds which cover the entire course in each subject. Students can pause, rewind and rewatch these On-Demand grinds as many times as they wish up until the State Exams in 2022.
Students attending our On-Demand grinds receive:
- A total of 29x 75-minute video lessons which can be rewatched right up until the State Exams in 2022.
- Hundreds of pages of our study notes which are delivered in hard copy format to students’ homes free of charge.

What will be covered in this English Online Grind?
In the weekly English Junior Certificate Online grinds, JP will comprehensively cover all aspects of the syllabus to ensure that students are well equipped to manage the new two-hour examination paper. This focused course covers the essential elements of the English curriculum from creating writing, functional tasks, poetry, drama and fiction.
JP’s unique style of teaching breaks the English subject down by providing systematic tools for students to approach the paper. Using the exam-focused notes student will receive, this course will help students understand how to effectively prepare for the exam, providing a formulaic approach to dissecting questions in order to maximise their result. As time management can be a big challenge in the state examinations, particularly with the new Junior Cycle English paper, the course will also cover how to identify keywords, outlined in the marking scheme, so that students are confident in addressing all aspects of this paper.
As continuous based assessment is now also a feature of how students are evaluated for English, this course will also practical tips on how students should approach these assignments throughout the year to achieve their best result.
Meet your English Teacher – JP Sweetman: JP Sweetman has 15 years experience teaching English at the highest level. He also works as an Examiner for the State Exams Commission (SEC) specialising in Leaving Certificate English. His continued work with the SEC means he can provide the most relevant notes and guidance to students on current exam trends, exam management, tips and preparation. JP has written and published work with The Educational Company of Ireland. His passion for English is evident through classes that are enjoyable and rewarding.
What will be covered in this Junior Cert Irish Online Grind?
Over the course of the academic year, we will cover all aspects of the Higher Level Junior Cycle Irish exam. We will focus on the verbs at the start of the year in the weekly grinds to ensure students have the correct foundation to go on and achieve the best possible results. Students will become very familiar with the more difficult big mark questions such as “An Litir”, “Na Léamhthuiscintí” and “An Scéal”.
Students will cover 5 different poems and 5 different stories to ensure they have a wide variety of content to choose from for the exam in June.
Students will be given notes which will include poetry, stories, letters, prose and of course previous exam questions. Our teachers will use their experience and in-depth knowledge of the course to ensure all students are very comfortable with the exam layout and the content needed to succeed. Towards the end of the year, we will discuss exam strategies, time management and helpful tips and exam shortcuts each student has confidence going into the Junior Cert Irish exam.

Meet your Irish Teacher – Megan O’Connor: Megan is an Irish teacher, graduated from UCD with an Honours degree.She has previously worked in the Gaeltacht and on marketing campaigns with both Conradh na Gaeilge and Gaelchultúr. Megan has specialised in Junior Cycle for the past three years. Her teaching style successfully prepares students for the Junior Cycle exam and also shows them Irish as a modern living language.
What will be covered in this Maths Online Grind?
The 3rd Year Junior Cert Online Maths course is designed to ensure that all students maximise their potential. The focus of each class during the year is the exam and how students can excel in that exam. Classes are as interactive as possible and only areas that are examinable are covered.
The students will be given a comprehensive set of Junior Cert Maths notes based on each strand on the syllabus. These notes will also contain a huge number of potential exam questions and the solutions to these questions. These can be used as a stand-alone study tool that will reinforce the students learning from the weekly classes.

Meet your Maths Teacher – Carl Brien: Having worked for the State Examination Commission, Carl brings his reputation as an authority on the Maths Syllabus to The Dublin Academy of Education. As a member of the Irish Mathematics Teachers’ Association, he is a popular teacher amongst students due to his mastery of the Project Maths Syllabus, and is well-known for his ability to stimulate students’ interest in Maths.
If I sign up to the On-Demand Grinds programme will I be able to rewatch the videos lessons at a later date?chevron_right
Yes, access to all your weekly 60-minute videos lessons will be available right up until the State Examinations.
Will the 40+ hours of videos lessons be available to watch from the start of the year?chevron_right
Yes, students will access to their subject's video library which they can watch at their own pace.
How and when do I get my notes?chevron_right
Please allow at least 3-4 working days to receive your notes. There may be a scenario where you are granted access to our On-Demand Grinds programme prior to the study notes arriving but we advise students to wait until they have the notes before commencing watching the video lessons.
Can you do these courses if you don’t live in Dublin?chevron_right
Yes, you can watch the video lessons from the comfort and safety of your own home as they are online. You will also have hard copies of the notes so you don’t have to worry about printing them.
Can notes be delivered to anywhere in the country?chevron_right

How will I view the On-Demand Grinds programme?chevron_right
Our On-Demand Grinds programme will be hosted on our Moodle Platform. Prior to the On-Demand Grinds commencement date on 1st September 2021, we will email you with your login details and passwords for this platform.
Do I need the study notes to get value from the videos lessons?chevron_right
Yes, absolutely. Students who attempt to watch the videos lessons without the study notes will not get value from these video lessons as our teachers constantly refer to the notes constantly throughout. As such, we advise all students to follow the video lessons with the notes in front of them.
What happens if I share my logins to Moodle with another student who is not enrolled in the On-Demand Grinds programme?chevron_right
Our On-Demand Grinds programmes are strictly only available to students who are enrolled with us. The On-Demand Grinds programme is designed as a full support package containing pre-recorded videos, live tutorials and hard copies of our study notes. Only students who are enrolled with us will experience the full benefits this programme has to offer. We have software in place to identify suspicious login activity and will revoke account access if we suspect a student is sharing logins with non-enrolled students.
Can I be logged on to the On-Demand Grinds programme on more than one device at a time?chevron_right
No, you will only be able to log on to our Moodle platform on one device at a time. If you try to log in on a second device, you will be automatically logged out on the first device
Is there a cut-off point to signing up for the On-Demand Grinds programme?chevron_right
No, although our On-Demand Grinds programme commences on 1st September 2021, students can still sign up after this date. Our On-Demand Grinds programmes are designed to be attended over 29x weeks so we advise students to sign up sooner rather than later as they’ll be able to manage the workload better.
Can you only view the videos once?chevron_right
No, you can pause, rewind and rewatch all of the videos.
Will there be timetable clashes?chevron_right
With our On-Demand Grinds programme, there will be no timetable clashes at all, allowing unrestricted course choice and giving students the freedom to work through each course at their own pace and at a time that suits them.
