3rd Year Easter Revision Course
5-Day Easter Revision Courses
This year, our Easter Revision Courses offer students more flexibility than ever before. Students can access these courses by attending On-Site Courses in Stillorgan or Online Courses via live-stream.
- On-Site Courses: Students attend our courses in person at our school in Stillorgan. These courses consist of 5x 75-minute classes over the course of one week which include comprehensive study notes. Students will also receive recordings of their class that they can pause, rewind and rewatch up until the 1st July 2022.
- Live-Stream Courses: Students can attend our courses online via live-stream. Our HD live-streaming technology allows students to attend our courses and interact with their teacher from the comfort of their own home. All study notes are posted to students free of charge. Students will also receive recordings of their class that they can pause, rewind and rewatch up until the 1st July 2022.
Students can book any combination of On-Site and Online Courses they wish. Easter Revision Courses take place from Monday 11th April to Saturday 23rd April.
Students who sign up for these courses will receive:
- Recordings of classes that students can pause, rewind and rewatch up until 1st July 2022.
- On average, 300 pages of our H1 study notes per subject.
- Over six hours of expert tuition in each course with some of Ireland’s most dedicated and passionate teachers.
- Past and probable exam questions that are likely to appear in this year’s State Examinations.

- Overview of Exam and Answering Comprehension Questions
- Personal and Narrative Writing Tasks

Students will receive notes on the following English topics:
This course is built on the fact that almost half of all the questions students will be answering on is material that they have never seen before. Students will receive fully worked notes and past paper examples of the most popular questions. All notes place a heavy emphasis on the value of understanding the marking scheme, and on using that knowledge to write a well-structured answer for the examiner.
Meet your English Teacher – JP Sweetman: JP Sweetman has 15 years experience teaching English at the highest level. He also works as an Examiner for the State Exams Commission (SEC) specialising in Leaving Certificate English. His continued work with the SEC means he can provide the most relevant notes and guidance to students on current exam trends, exam management, tips and preparation. JP has written and published work with The Educational Company of Ireland. His passion for English is evident through classes that are enjoyable and rewarding.
Meet your English Teacher – Ciarán Hartigan: Ciarán Hartigan has been teaching English to the highest level for over 10 years and brings an organised and methodical approach to his teaching. Holding a Masters in Drama and Theatre Studies, he provides original insights into works of literature and couples this with practical advice on structuring responses and arguments. Drawing on years of experience as a Leaving Certificate examiner with the State Exams Commission, he provides students with dependable techniques and strategies for success.

- Listening Comprehension

Students will receive notes on the following French topics:
- Focus on all four competencies of language acquisition; reading, writing, speaking and listening.
- Examination skills & technique.
- Focus on the note, the postcard, the internal letter, reading comprehensions, listening comprehensions, oral french.
- Students attending this course also have access to comprehensive online study and revision packs to help further their progress in the language.
Meet your French Teacher – Amy Weddell: Amy Weddell has an International Degree in French and German and has spent time living in both countries. This, coupled with the Professional Masters in Education providing training on up to date teaching methodologies, ensures that she holds the skills to successfully aid students at any level to access language curricula, at both an academic and cultural level. An integration of language-learning skills based on the acquisition of language, such as phonics, provides all students with a strong foundation ensuring that they achieve the best possible grades in exams.

Meet your Geography Teacher – Tracy Gannon: Tracy Gannon holds a Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Geography, a Professional Diploma in Education & Master of Education. Her passion for her subjects has been shown in her ambition to further educate herself whilst also being a full-time post-primary teacher & part-time lecturer in University College Dublin.
Tracy’s style of teaching instils confidence in her students by providing them with a well-defined understanding of the syllabus. Her teaching experience and work as a state examiner have afforded her the opportunity to have a key insight into preparing her students to achieve top marks in their final exams.
Topics Covered in this Junior Cycle History Easter Revision Course:
This course will bring the students through all the key topics in the first, second and third year courses of the History syllabus. A detailed revision pack will be provided to each student highlighting essential course detail. Sample answers will also be provided. The layout of the State Exam paper will be explained, as will the marking scheme and the students will be coached in time-management techniques and how to claim higher marks from the examiner.
Meet your History Teacher – Lorraine Lee: With over 12 years post-primary teaching experience, Lorraine Lee brings a passion for music education to her role here at Dublin Academy of Education. With a Master’s Degree in Music Performance, experience in preparing students for exams in the Royal Irish Academy of Music along with being a practical examiner for the State Exams Commission, Lorraine is well equipped in preparing students for the exam.

Students will receive notes on the following Irish topics:
This course is designed with the key objective of making this exam more approachable for students through developing clever answering techniques which will cover them for any question which may appear in June. Students will receive an exam day plan highlighting the DOs and DON’Ts for exam day, focusing on simple methods that they can use to raise their grade.
Meet your Irish Teacher – Rob Quinlan: With a master’s degree in Economics along with correcting the Leaving Cert at state level for the past 6 years, Rob instils passion, interest and competence in students to obtain results of which they are capable. A methodical approach in making the subject relevant to students by understanding the economic climate around them is merged with the tools to navigate through all possible questions as proficiently as possible in exams. Rob has also 5 years’ experience as an Irish oral examiner as well as teaching and tutoring in UCD and Irish summer courses.

Students also receive five booklets (one for each of the five sections of the syllabus). You will benefit greatly from a set of notes called ‘The Holy Grail’, which outlines how to take advantage of the marking scheme. Note: Students will also receive Carl’s predictions for Junior Certificate.

Meet your Maths Teacher – Carl Brien: Carl Brien brings his reputation as an authority on the Business Studies Syllabus to The Dublin Academy of Education. He is a popular teacher amongst students due to his mastery of the marking scheme, and is well-known for his ability to stimulate students’ interest in Business Studies. Carl teaches in a systematic and clear way that relates to students, with an ability to motivate his students that is unique.

As a member of the Irish Mathematics Teachers’ Association, he is a popular teacher amongst students due to his mastery of the Project Maths Syllabus, and is well-known for his ability to stimulate students’ interest in Maths.

- Biology: overview, photosynthesis, ecology
- Biology: genetics, micro-organisms
- Chemistry: separation techniques, atomic formula (ratio of atoms), rates of reaction and energy
- Physics: motion, energy, electricity
- Earth & Space: phases of Moon, seasons, weight vs mass
Students will receive notes on the following Science topics:
This course will ensure students get the most marks possible in a tricky, no choice exam where all questions must be answered. Students will study topics from all three sciences over the five days receiving The Academy comprehensive revision pack (a set of nine handouts of need to know material which condenses the wide course into a manageable amount). All notes are complete with every past paper question, a necessity before tackling this exam.
Meet your Science Teacher – Anita Leen: Anita Leen is a Biology & Physics teacher, graduated from the University of Limerick with an Honours degree. She has taught in some of the most prestigious schools in Dublin. She is a member of the Irish Science Teachers Association. She has a passion for both biology and physics and has extensive knowledge of exam content, this helps students to reach their full potential in their Leaving Cert exams.
Megan achieved an Academic Excellence award in the area of Science while in college and she now wants to pass her passion and experience to her students.
She instils confidence in her students by providing a clear understanding of exam content and structure while immersed in an interesting, thought provoking environment.
Her knowledge in the areas of Science and her use of up to date methodologies, will help equip students for the Leaving Certificate exams in order to support each individual obtain their best possible result.

What is the format of the Easter Revision Courses?chevron_right
Students attending our Easter Revision Courses will attend a 75-minute class each day for five days (over 6 hours in total). They will also receive an average of 300+ pages of our H1 study notes per course. Students will also be sent recordings of their classes that they can pause, rewind and rewatch after the course.
If I attend On-Site Courses will I still receive recordings?chevron_right
Yes, all students will receive recordings of their classes whether they attend On-Site or Online.
How will I access the recordings of my Easter Revision Courses?chevron_right
Our Easter Revision Courses will be hosted on our Dublin Academy Study Hub learning platform. We will email you with your login details and passwords for this platform.
When will I receive the recordings of my classes?chevron_right
Students will be sent recordings of their classes the week after their course is finished.
If I attend the Live-Stream Easter Revision Courses, how and when do I get my notes?chevron_right
For live-stream students, our H1 notes will be posted to your home address free of charge. Please allow 3 working days to receive your notes.
Can notes be delivered to anywhere in the country?chevron_right
Yes, no matter where you are, you will be able to attend our Easter Revision Courses and we will post the notes to you.
Can you only view the recordings once? How long will I have access to the online courses?chevron_right
No, you can pause, rewind and rewatch all of the videos. All students will have access up until 1st July 2022.
Will there be timetable clashes?chevron_right
Should there be a timetable clash, students can still enrol and can watch the recordings of the classes at a later date.
Can you do these courses if you don’t live in Dublin?chevron_right
Yes, by attending our Live-Stream Easter Courses, you can attend from the comfort of your own home. You will also have hard copies of the notes posted to you so you don’t have to worry about printing them out.
