3rd Year Christmas Revision Courses

The Dublin Academy of Education is running Christmas Revision Courses from Tuesday 28th December – Friday 31st December in Stillorgan.
Students who sign up to these courses will receive:
- On average, 250 pages of our H1 study notes per subject.
- Five hours of expert tuition with some of Ireland’s most dedicated and passionate teachers per subject.
- Past and probable exam questions that are likely to appear in this year’s State Examinations.
Students can sign up to these courses in any of the following ways:
On-Site: Attend in person in our classroom-based courses in Stillorgan, Dublin.
Online: Attend online via our HD live-streaming technology.
On-Demand: Watch pre-recorded HD video content with our teachers. Students have access to this for the month of January.
Should government guidelines change and schools be forced to close, all classes will proceed via live-stream.
Topics Covered in this Junior Cycle English Revision Course:
This course is built on the fact that almost half of all the questions students will be answering on is material that they have never seen before. Students will receive fully worked notes and past paper examples of the most popular questions. All notes place a heavy emphasis on the value of understanding the marking scheme, and on using that knowledge to write a well-structured answer for the examiner.
Meet your English Teacher – JP Sweetman: JP Sweetman has 15 years experience teaching English at the highest level. He also works as an Examiner for the State Exams Commission (SEC) specialising in Leaving Certificate English. His continued work with the SEC means he can provide the most relevant notes and guidance to students on current exam trends, exam management, tips and preparation. JP has written and published work with The Educational Company of Ireland. His passion for English is evident through classes that are enjoyable and rewarding.

Meet your French Teacher – Amy Weddell: Amy Weddell has an International Degree in French and German and has spent time living in both countries. This, coupled with the Professional Masters in Education providing training on up to date teaching methodologies, ensures that she holds the skills to successfully aid students at any level to access language curricula, at both an academic and cultural level. An integration of language-learning skills based on the acquisition of language, such as phonics, provides all students with a strong foundation ensuring that they achieve the best possible grades in exams.
Topics Covered in this Junior Cycle History Christmas Revision Course:
This course will bring the students through all the key topics in the first, second and third year courses of the History syllabus. A detailed revision pack will be provided to each student highlighting essential course detail. Sample answers will also be provided. The layout of the State Exam paper will be explained, as will the marking scheme and the students will be coached in time-management techniques and how to claim higher marks from the examiner.
Meet your History Teacher – Lorraine Lee: With over 12 years post-primary teaching experience, Lorraine Lee brings a passion for music education to her role here at Dublin Academy of Education. With a Master’s Degree in Music Performance, experience in preparing students for exams in the Royal Irish Academy of Music along with being a practical examiner for the State Exams Commission, Lorraine is well equipped in preparing students for the exam.

As a member of the Irish Mathematics Teachers’ Association, he is a popular teacher amongst students due to his mastery of the Project Maths Syllabus, and is well-known for his ability to stimulate students’ interest in Maths.

Meet your Science Teacher – Anita Leen: Anita Leen is a Biology & Physics teacher, graduated from the University of Limerick with an Honours degree. She has a passion for both biology and physics and has extensive knowledge of exam content, this helps students to reach their full potential in their Leaving Cert exams.
Meet your Science Teacher – Megan Mulvihill: Megan Mulvihill holds a first class honours Degree and Professional Masters in Education.
Megan achieved an Academic Excellence award in the area of Science while in college and she now wants to pass her passion and experience to her students.
She instils confidence in her students by providing a clear understanding of exam content and structure while immersed in an interesting, thought provoking environment.
Her knowledge in the areas of Science and her use of up to date methodologies, will help equip students for the Leaving Certificate exams in order to support each individual obtain their best possible result.
What is the difference between the Live and On-Demand Christmas Revision Courses?chevron_right
Students attending our Live Christmas Revision Courses will attend classes over four days at our school in Stillorgan or alternatively can watch from home via live-stream. Students attending our On-Demand Christmas Revision Courses will be able to watch pre-recorded versions of the same courses via our Dublin Academy Study Hub Learning Platform, where the courses will be available to re-watch for the month of January.
Can I sign up to both Live and On-Demand Christmas Revision Courses?chevron_right
Yes, students can book any combination of our Live and On-Demand Christmas Revision Courses. i.e. they can chose to attend some courses here at the school and others online.
What is the format of the Live Christmas Revision Courses?chevron_right
Students attending Live Christmas Revision Courses will attend a 75-minute class each day for four days (5 hours in total). They will also receive an average of 250+ pages of our H1 study notes per course.
What is the format of the On-Demand Christmas Revision Courses?chevron_right
Students attending On-Demand Christmas Revision Courses will receive 6.25 hours of tuition via pre-recorded videos which can be watched and re-watched for up to a month. They will also receive an average of 250+ pages of our H1 study notes per course posted free-of-charge directly to their home.
Do I need the notes to get value from the On-Demand Christmas Revision Courses?chevron_right
Yes, absolutely. Students who attempt to watch the On-Demand Christmas Revision Courses without the notes will not get value from these courses as our teachers constantly refer to the notes constantly throughout the video lessons. As such, we advise all students to follow classes with the notes in front of them.
If I take the On-Demand or Live-Stream Christmas Revision Courses, how and when do I get my notes?chevron_right
Please allow 3 working days to receive your notes. There may be a scenario where you are granted access to our online Christmas Revision Courses prior to the notes arriving but we advise students to wait until they have the notes before commencing watching the online video lessons.
Can notes be delivered to anywhere in the country?chevron_right
Yes, no matter where you are, you will be able to attend our Christmas Revision Courses and we will post the notes to you.
How will I view the On-Demand Christmas Revision Courses?chevron_right
Our On-Demand Christmas Revision Courses will be hosted on our Dublin Academy Study Hub learning platform. Prior to your online course commencement date, we will email you with your login details and passwords for this platform.
Can you only view the videos once? How long will I have access to the online courses?chevron_right
No, you can pause, rewind and rewatch all of the videos. You will have access for one month.
Can I be logged on to the On-Demand Christmas Revision Courses on more than one device at a time?chevron_right
No, you will only be able to log on to the Christmas Revision Courses on one device at a time. If you try to log in on a second device, you will be automatically be logged out on the first device.
Will there be timetable clashes?chevron_right
As we have both Live and On-Demand offerings for the majority of courses, students will be able to avoid timetable clashes.
Can you do these courses if you don’t live in Dublin?chevron_right
Yes, by attending our On-Demand Christmas Revision Courses, you can attend from the comfort of your own home. You will also have hard copies of the notes posted to you so you don’t have to worry about printing them out.
