6th Year FREE Back to School Courses
We have designed Free Back to School Courses to help students in all years get back on track before returning to school in September.
Students can experience these live and interactive FREE Back to School Courses by attending either:
- On-site: We offer on-site classroom-based courses from our Stillorgan location.
- Online via Live-stream: We also offer students the option of attending these courses via live-stream meaning they can participate from anywhere in Ireland.
The aim of these Back to School Courses is to ensure that students are ready to hit the ground running in the new academic year.
Key information:
- Each Free Course is 1.25 hour in duration and students can register for two courses. This gives students up to 2.5 hours of free tuition with some of Ireland’s most passionate and dedicated teachers.
- Each Free Course covers a key area of the course providing valuable insights for students. For more information on specific course content see the ‘Subjects’ tab.
- All courses come with our renowned study notes which students can download free of charge.

Topic Covered in this Back to School Course: Club Accounts
Meet your Accounting teacher – Don Tierney: Don Tierney has 20 years of experience in teaching Accounting. Prior to that, he spent two years working as an Accountant. He has a wide range of teaching experience in the subject. Confidence is instilled in his students as the students receive constant guidance and encouragement on how to earn top marks in their exams. He shares with the student’s exam techniques and equally as important, the most frequent and highly avoidable mistakes and over the years a high percentage of his students go on to study Accounting at Third level.
Topic Covered in this Free Back to School Course: Projectiles
This course examines the flight of missiles through the air. Two types of situation are examined: launching missiles from horizontal planes and from inclined planes (hills). One technique will be demonstrated that allows both types of problems to be solved with ease.
Meet your Applied Maths Teacher – Kieran Mills: Kieran Mills’ experience of correcting with the State Examination Commission gives him an in-depth knowledge of what is required by students. He is popular amongst students due to his mastery of the Project Maths Syllabus and is well-known for his ability to stimulate students’ interest in the subject. Kieran has 25 years’ experience teaching. He has co-written several books, including The Power of Maths series of Junior and Leaving Certificate Textbooks, trusted by thousands of students around the country. Kieran has also been an expert contributor on Maths for RTÉ Radio.
Topic Covered in this Free Back to School Course: Photosynthesis
In this 75 minute online course, David will reveal how to approach studying the long biology course for maximum exam efficiency. He will show his unique techniques for tackling each topic from scratch to uncover exactly what the leaving cert examiner is looking for as well as his renowned methods for mastering Photosynthesis. Students will leave this course with a deep confidence in how to begin their biology study as well as mastery in a topic worth up to 15% of their final grade.

This will cover how to calculate moles and molecules, and how to use balanced equations to calculate the mass of reactants/products. This is a key skill for the leaving certificate and my notes have helped many students achieve top grades in their calculations.

This course will offer students the chance to gain more insight into two of the most important parts of the written exam – the opinion piece and the diary entry. Students will learn how these questions are marked, as well as go through sample answers and ways to optimize their own marks in their final exams.

This course will include:
- An in-depth look at paper layout and timing.
- An overview of The Rock Cycle for short questions, part A’s and essay-style questions

Topic Covered in this Free Back to School Course: Exponential function
The course will cover a topic which has frequently appeared as a long question on Paper 1. After briefly reviewing the basics, we will work up to some tricky exam-style questions in a ‘from the ground up’ approach that will help students get on top of the material.

Carl will be looking at paper 1 and in particular Complex Numbers. Exam advice and technique will be offered and strategies to approach any complex number questions will be discussed.

This course explores the connection between electricity and magnetism. Motors are based on the concept that electricity produces magnetism. Faraday discovered that magnetism also produces electricity giving rise to a technological revolution delivering electricity to people’s homes over a century ago.
