Dr. Nichola Walsh
Nichola has a first class honours degree in chemistry and Ph.D. from U.C.D. and she completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Education at the University of Oxford. She is an experienced teacher who has taught G.C.S.E, A-level, and Leaving Certificate chemistry and was an undergraduate chemistry tutor and lab demonstrator in U.C.D. She is a passionate teacher who loves teaching science and this comes across in her classes. Nichola is also an examiner for higher level chemistry, which has given her an invaluable insight into grading the chemistry paper. She regularly incorporates this knowledge into her classes to ensure students maximise their marks.
“Nichola is hands down the best teacher I have seen since I started secondary school. Her knowledge of the exam paper and the detail required is exceptional. How she emphasises certain topics gives the student a crystal clear idea of what is important and what is not. Her notes are again the best I have ever seen, and I have had many notes in many subjects from many different teachers. They are by far the best. Well done and thanks a mil!”

During the academic year, we will cover all core topics in the Leaving Certificate Chemistry course in detail in the weekly grinds. Exam technique will be a focus of the classes to fully prepare you for the Leaving Cert Chemistry exam. Past exam questions will be dissected in class as each topic is covered to demonstrate how to answer them to an H1 standard. Much time will be devoted to the parts of the course most commonly seen on the exam and the parts that students find challenging such as Organic Chemistry, Volumetric Analysis and Stoichiometry.
In these Chemistry Online grinds, you will be given exam-focused notes covering all the core topics on the Leaving Cert Chemistry syllabus. The all-important mandatory experiments that are found in section A of the exam will be covered in detail and will appear throughout the notes.
