The Academy Careers Day 2026: A Day of Insight, Ambition and Opportunity

On Friday, 23rd January, we hosted our annual Careers Day, and it proved to be a highly engaging and inspiring experience for our 5th and 6th year students.

The day brought together an outstanding community of guest speakers, universities, and further education providers, all united by a shared purpose: to support students as they begin to shape their futures beyond school.

Guest Speakers: Real Paths, Real Perspective

Throughout the day, students attended a wide range of talks delivered by professionals who spoke openly about their career journeys, challenges, and decision-making. These sessions highlighted an important and reassuring message, that career paths are rarely straightforward, and success takes many forms.

We were delighted to welcome the following speakers, representing diverse disciplines including politics, healthcare, law, business, technology, education, media, engineering and entrepreneurship:

Barry Andrews MEP, Gary Fox, Anthony Marinos, Angus Dion Makhal, Dr Liz McCarron, Rebecca Boland, Jake McEntee, Brian Gillespie, Gordon Canning, Ruth Magee, Eimear McManus, Lara Lenehan, Niall Mac an tSionnaigh, Fatima Quadri, Aoife O'Sullivan, Stephen Harper, Stephen Flood, JP Sweetman, Emily O’Driscoll, Jim Marron, Pascale Baker, Ana Vera, Louise Carey, Joe Fisher, Guy Flouch, Luke Doyle, and Barry Murphy.

Their honesty, generosity and practical advice gave students invaluable insight into both traditional and emerging career routes.

Colleges and Further Education Providers

Between talks, the Study Hall was alive with conversation as representatives from universities and colleges across Ireland, the UK and Europe met with students. These informal discussions allowed students to ask questions, explore courses, and consider a broad range of academic and vocational pathways.

We were proud to welcome representatives from the following institutions:

Their presence ensured students were exposed to a wide and balanced range of options,  from traditional university routes to specialist, international and further education pathways

A Community Effort

The atmosphere throughout the school was one of curiosity, engagement and ambition, a clear reflection of the value of bringing education and industry together in a meaningful way.

We extend our sincere thanks to all speakers and college representatives for giving their time so generously, and to The Academy team, whose organisation and commitment ensured the day ran smoothly from start to finish.

Careers Day remains a cornerstone of our senior cycle programme, grounding students in possibility, perspective and purpose as they prepare for the next chapter.
