As we prepare our students for the upcoming exam season, we have some important news to share. After six years of dedicated leadership, guiding us through Covid and beyond, our principal Ciaran Hartigan, will soon be relocating with his wife and growing family to Cork. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ciaran for his unwavering commitment to our students and school community, and wish him and his family every happiness in their new adventure.
At the same time, we are delighted to announce the appointment of JP Sweetman as the new Principal of the Dublin Academy of Education. JP is married with three children, serves as a mentor and U12’s coach at Naomh Olaf GAA, and is an avid marathon runner - demonstrating a high-achieving growth mindset in all aspects of life. As a published academic author with 10 years serving with the SEC as a state examiner, JP has firmly established himself during the five years with the Academy as an outstanding English teacher and, for three of those years, as a wonderful Deputy Principal. This September, JP will mark an impressive milestone of 20 years of teaching experience, reflecting his deep expertise and enduring commitment to education. He has shown exceptional leadership, a passion for academic excellence, and a deep commitment to our school’s values.
We look forward to this new chapter and are confident that, under JP’s thoughtful and inspiring guidance, our school will continue to flourish in our new state-of-the-art campus in Blackrock.
